Polis
In the series Polis, geometric configurations inspired by the ideal forms of urban grid structures are turned into abstract pictorial reliefs of glass and acrylic. Augmented by elements of drawing and the situationally cast shadows, a game with miscellaneous layers of media develops that includes the ephemeral incidence of light.
Megapolis
The ongoing series Megapolis revolves around the possibility of using abstract structures that are associated with urban, i.e. heavily populated areas for the expansion of the pictorial space into the real space in front of the given picture surface – as opposed to the traditional painting, in which illusionistic space extends into the depth behind it – and so to respond to the separation between artistic space and the social space of the observers. In addition to the most diverse combinations of colourful glass, the mirror is a preferred material for integrating the body of observers facing the artwork visually and directly into the picture.
Necropolis
Based on the series Megapolis, the pictorial objects of Necropolis include the human body by means of x-ray images of separate body parts such as joints, skull, ribcage etc. in the abstract-geometric structure. They express an allegory of the city as a fragile organism, whose metabolism requires a delicate balance in order to function as a living environment.
