Applause
The intervention titled Applause took place at the Alexander Duchnovic Theatre in Presov in 2015 as part of a performance of the play Vassa by Maxim Gorky (in the version from 1910, which after 1935 was replaced in the Eastern Bloc countries with a revised edition by order of Stalin). Inspired by the protagonist, who represents a “female revolution”, the intervention consisted in the surprising entrance of the artist on the stage during the curtain call at the end of the performance. On the one hand, it is a free interpretation of Gorky’s female character, who briefly conquers and claims the stage for herself, on the other it was about setting off a concrete “crisis of space”, i.e. to introduce a moment of disruption or irritation to the typical stage regulations and with it an action-oriented individual.
